| Dean Thatcher submitted these photos of a Snook rectifier operating at 25,000 volts. What is a Snook rectifier you ask?? Well imagine a synchronous motor attached to an armature with multiple sparkgaps arranged to commutate the current in a full wave bridge configuration and you've got the idea. This rectifier can handle up to 250,000 volts! Check out Dean's website for a lot of interesting photos: http://www.iavalley.cc.ia.us/~thatcher/ | ![]() |
